How many bank Holidays are there in 2023?
The number of UK bank holidays in 2023 depends on where you are. In England and Wales there will be nine bank holidays to put your feet up in 2023. In Scotland and Republic of Ireland there is going to be ten bank holidays, in Northern Ireland there will be eleven!
What is a substitute bank holiday?
When a bank holiday ends up occurring on a weekend in a certain year, such Christmas or Boxing Day happening on a Saturday or Sunday, the holiday is normally shifted to the next available weekday. This allows people who already have Saturday or Sunday off work to enjoy a day of the working week off as well.
