Case Study: XCD helps child health charity go remote

As a charitable membership organisation dedicated to improving child health in the UK, The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) work closely within the paediatric community to improve services, activities, policies and funding.

They face a number of challenges in common with many charitable organisations, competition for talent, changing legislative and immigration pressures, technological disruption and changes to the attitudes to the workplace.

Their response is a comprehensive strategy for HR and organisational development, which focusses on empowering their employees across a number of key themes - including skills, performance, leadership, talent, diversity and engagement.

The challenge

But like many organisations, RCPCH’s People Services Team found themselves hampered by technology. They were operating a combination of different HR applications with no cloud access and limited integration. Data coming out of the system was unreliable and ‘therefore, not fit for purpose’, says People Services Manager Michael Keeler Walker.

Furthermore, the system’s poor reliability had begun to undermine employee trust in critical processes.

To realise their people objectives, RCPCH needed a solution that would provide reliable reporting and remote access for all stakeholders - a single source of data for their HR, Payroll and Finance teams, and a system flexible enough to reflect their existing processes.

The results

The people-centric nature of RCPCH’s approach to HR has allowed the team to leverage the data and reporting elements of our employee relationship management solution with great effectiveness, while cloud-based access has proved to have been more important that anyone could have imagined.
